A ceremony with a view

El Arco as your backdrop, the Pacific as your aisle

Quick answer

A yacht wedding in Cabo is a private charter on a yacht or event catamaran for your ceremony, your reception or both. Luxury yachts suit intimate ceremonies for a small group, while event catamarans host receptions of 50 to 120 guests. Catering, decorations, music and photography depend on the vessel and are confirmed in writing before you book.

There are few settings as dramatic as the tip of the Baja peninsula. Granite cliffs rise straight from the sea, the arch at Land's End frames the horizon, and in the late afternoon the whole coastline turns gold. A wedding on the water lets your guests experience that view together, without crowds, and with the freedom to move from vows to dinner to dancing on the same deck.

Because every boat is different, the most important decision is the vessel. Its size sets how many guests can sit for a ceremony or a meal, its layout decides where the aisle, the bar and the dance floor go, and its equipment determines what catering, sound and decoration are possible. We help you weigh those details early, so the rest of the planning falls into place. Weddings are one of our charter experiences, and you can compare suitable boats in the yacht fleet and the catamaran fleet.

An intimate ceremony aboard a yacht

For a couple with family and close friends, a luxury yacht offers privacy, polish and a ceremony at anchor with the cliffs behind you. Yachts such as the 58' Custom Sunseeker and 60' Sunseeker Manhattan list up to 14 guests, and the 75' Sunseeker Manhattan up to 20.

Suits: elopements, small weddings and vow renewals.

Wedding-week charters

Many couples charter more than once: a welcome cruise for arriving guests, a rehearsal dinner on the water, a bachelor or bachelorette day, or a relaxed swim-and-snorkel day after the big night.

Suits: destination weddings with guests in town for several days.

Choosing a wedding vessel

Match the boat to your guest list

Quick answer

Count everyone who will be on board, including the officiant, photographer and any musicians. Then choose a vessel whose listed maximum is comfortably higher, because seated ceremonies and dinners need more space than a cruise. The figures below are the maximum guests listed for each vessel.

Planning considerations

Details that make the day run beautifully

Timing and light

Sunset in Cabo comes earlier in winter and later in summer, so we plan backwards from the light on your date: boarding, a short cruise to the ceremony spot, vows during golden hour and the celebration as the sky changes color. Allow extra time for guests to board and settle. Our charter planning guide explains seasons and timing in more detail.

Sea conditions

Wind and swell vary from day to day. Captains choose a sheltered spot for the ceremony whenever possible, and your plan should include what happens if conditions change, from a different anchorage to the terms for rescheduling.

Catering, cake and bar

Menus range from cocktail appetizers to plated dinners and buffets, depending on the vessel's galley and crew. Some boats list a chef or catering; others work with outside options. We confirm what is possible, including your cake, the bar service and any bring-your-own policy.

Decorations and setup

Ceremony arches, flowers, chairs and table settings can transform a deck, as the photos above show. Every arrangement depends on the vessel's layout and rules, may carry an additional cost and is confirmed in advance. Ask about restrictions such as loose confetti or open flames.

Photography and video

El Arco, golden hour and the open sea give photographers a lot to work with. Our Paparazzi Service can record the day on video, or your own photographer can join you on board as part of the guest count.

Guests and logistics

Think about older guests, children and anyone with limited mobility when choosing a vessel and boarding plan. We can help arrange transportation from your hotel or villa to the marina, and we confirm the boarding point and arrival time for everyone.

A note on legal formalities

The legal requirements for getting married in Mexico are separate from the charter itself. Please confirm with your wedding planner or officiant which formalities apply to you. Many couples complete the legal paperwork separately and hold a symbolic ceremony on board.

Questions & answers

Yacht weddings, answered

Answers to the questions couples ask while planning a wedding on the water in Cabo San Lucas.

Ask us something else

Yes. Couples hold ceremonies on yachts and event catamarans off Cabo San Lucas, often at anchor with Land's End and El Arco in the background. The charter covers the vessel, captain and crew; the legal side of marriage is handled separately, so check the formalities with your planner or officiant.

It depends on the vessel. Luxury yachts in our fleet list from 12 to 30 guests, the 74' Blue Water and 60' Event Catamaran up to 50, 110' The Deck up to 80, the Event Wedding Boat up to 100 and the 100' Party Catamaran up to 120. Seated ceremonies and dinners need more space, so choose a boat rated above your head count.

The legal requirements for marriage in Mexico are separate from the charter. Many couples complete the legal paperwork separately and enjoy a symbolic ceremony on board. Your wedding planner or officiant can advise on what applies to you.

Couples often bring a wedding cake on board, as our photos show. Bring-your-own policies for drinks differ by vessel and package, so we confirm what is allowed, and what is provided, before you book.

Yes, decorations such as a ceremony arch, flowers, chairs and table settings can usually be arranged. They depend on the vessel's layout and rules, may involve an additional cost and are confirmed in advance. Ask about restrictions such as confetti or candles.

Many event and party vessels have sound systems, and a DJ can be arranged on some boats at an additional cost. Tell us what you have in mind, from a string player for the ceremony to a dance party, and we will confirm what each vessel can support.

Captains and the port authority prioritize safety, and departures can be restricted in strong wind or high seas. The captain may choose a more sheltered location, and the rescheduling or cancellation options are set out in your written terms. We recommend building a little flexibility into your wedding week.

Our Paparazzi Service records the day on video, and you are welcome to bring your own photographer as part of the guest count. Let us know your plans so we can include them in the timeline and the head count.

As early as possible once your date is set, particularly for the large event catamarans and for high season from December through April. Early booking gives you the widest choice of vessels and more time to plan catering and decorations.
